That’s right. I’m not the only one going on and on about Trampled By Turtles:
Duluth’s Trampled by Turtles have long since captured the undying affections of Twin Cities music fans, as evidenced by their extremely sold-out show tonight at First Avenue which kicks off their biggest U.S. tour yet (including a spot in the just announced Lollapalooza line-up in Chicago) in support of their brand new record, Stars And Satellites. And now, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Duluth Mayor Don Ness have made that bond between the state and the band official, declaring today, April 11, to be Trampled By Turtles Day in both cities.
In addition to it being TBT Day, the stretch Interstate 35W running from Duluth to Minneapolis has been renamed Trampled By Turtles Trail for the duration of their current tour. These are some kind gestures to the Duluth quintet, but honors that are clearly well deserved, as the band’s profile continues to grow right along with their passionate fan base.
The band is about to embark on its longest tour ever including music festivals Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. They’re even hitting Canada! (Sorry, Detroit.) You can find all TBTs show dates on their site.
And it wouldn’t be a real Trampled By Turtles post if I didn’t play some music. Here is their newest single off their new album, now on sale:
