Beatles Song of the Week

This week it is one of the gems of the White Album, “Rocky Raccoon.”  Part of the charm of this song is that it sounds loose and unrehearsed, almost made up on the spot.  This early take of the song shows that Paul had the general idea of the narrative down pat, but played around with parts of it to achieve that spontaneity.  We present the “Minnesota Version,” before Rocky’s place of residence was changed to the Dakotas.
