Happy Birthday Paul McCartney!

Paul McCartney celebrates his 69th birthday today and we could not be happier. If you really think about it, has there been a more prolific songwriter in the history of popular music? How about in the 20th century? And if you look at multitalented musicians in the rock and roll age, surely he must be near the top of the list. And didn’t the man define how bass guitar was to be played in rock music? (Quick, name me one electric bass player in a rock group prior to Paul McCartney. Unless you are a music geek, you can’t.)

So we feel that although Paul has been knighted, has hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank and has legions of fans, he still doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his musical genius.  So happy birthday Macca!  Here is a set of gems from Paul’s solo career that, for whatever reason, don’t get the airplay that they should.

    Paul McCartney –
The most accomplished musician since the beginning of recorded song.

    +1 for the Bonzo reference.

For those who don’t know, in 1968 Paul McCartney produced The Bonzo Dog Band’s (the same band that appeared in the stripper scene in Magical Mystery Tour) biggest chart hit “I’m The Urban Spaceman” under the name Apollo C. Vermouth.
