Beatles Song of the Week – Bond Edition

With the passing of John Barry this week we thought it might be a good opportunity to feature one of the great James Bond themes of all time -albeit one that John Barry had nothing to do with.

In 1973 Paul McCartney teamed up with George Martin for the first time since the recording of Abbey Road in 1969 to record a demo of “Live and Let Die.”  Martin produced the track and provided the orchestral arrangement, and the results were sent to the film’s producers.  So impressed were they that George Martin was hired to score the entire film, thus making it the first James Bond film that John Barry did not contribute to.

But it made for a great theme song.
