Tuesday Bluesday – John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers

From 1966, it’s “Steppin’ Out.”  Here we have the pinnacle (in my opinion) of Eric Clapton’s guitar career.  His work on the Bluesbreakers album propelled him into the stratosphere among guitar enthusiasts.  While Cream’s studio recordings never matched this energy, live recordings from 1966-1969 show Eric Clapton playing with the intensity whose beginnings you can hear on this track.  If you’ve not heard the Bluesbreakers album, you have one last gift to ask for this Christmas.
