While reading a biography on Eminem last week, I was astounded to find a quick mention of this week’s featured artist, Eyedea (Michael Larsen). The book mentioned him as an up and coming artist who drew comparisons to Eminem, not just for being white, but for his incredible talent at lyrics and rhyming. Sadly, Eyedea passed away in October, 2010 at the all too familiar age of 28. My surprise wasn’t because Eyedea didn’t deserve the mention in the book, because he certainly did, but rather that the author would name an independent hip-hop artist at all. But judge for yourself if Eyedea and DJ Abilities didn’t deserve the accolades they were given.
