Israel’s “partners in peace” have, once again, shown the world just how committed they are towards bridging any gap in understanding between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in their fifth convention, held this week in Ramallah.
The Fatah Revolutionary Council over this weekend voted to “affirm its rejection of the so-called Jewish state or any other formula that could achieve this goal” at its fifth convention in Ramallah.
Refusing to recognize Israel is nothing new for Fatah. But the following quote from the council is simply dripping with irony.
“The Council also renews its refusal for the establishment of any racist state based on religion in accordance with international law and human rights conventions,” the council said in a statement issued at the end of the convention.
Until the double-standard regarding what is expected of Israel and what is tolerated from Fatah is recognized I can hardly consider the two sides as equal “partners in peace.” This announcement is a prime example of why that is.
